Paul Dickinson

Overview

Paul has over 25+ years of business experience in addition to an Honours Degree in Business Studies and qualifications in Executive Coaching from the University of Sydney, The Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership and UTS (where he lectures and is an Industry Fellow at the Business School). Over the past two decades Paul has coached and managed 100’s of staff and coachees and has established, managed and grown numerous multi-million dollar businesses throughout Australia, Asia and the UK.

Paul has a natural energy and enthusiasm and combines this with a friendly but professional manner. He employs a supportive but challenging style of coaching which lends counterparts to know that they are going to be tested but remain in a safe environment.  Paul’s passion is obvious and infectious but he still able to give the counterpart the space and they need to think and reflect.

Career History 

Following the successful development of a greenfield operation for an HR Consulting and Training business in Scotland, Paul immigrated to Australia in 1998. After management stints at two internationally renowned recruitment consultancies, Paul then set up, managed and grew Charterhouse Partnership as co-Founder and Managing Director. He then relocated to Asia and launched Charterhouse in both Singapore and Hong Kong. Upon returning to Australia he established the executive arm of Kelly Services and became their Managing Director.

Paul moved into the sphere of Management Consulting and Executive Coaching upon his establishment of Positive Leadership Development (with its strong focus upon the principles of Positive Psychology), where he stayed until joining Fortinberry Murray (leaders in applying neuro-science to Leadership Development). Most recently Paul spent 5 years as the General Manager of the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership, before moving to Queensland where he set up and now runs Professional Development Consulting, working with and coaching senior leaders to become the very best versions of themselves.

1:1 Executive Coaching

Working on the principle that leaders inherently know the answers to the questions they are presented with, our mandate is to help facilitate this process of discovery through challenging, insightful and thought-provoking inquiry.  Through our challenging yet supportive questioning approach we ensure that the leader becomes aware of and responsible for their actions, behaviours and impact.  This insight helps leaders work with their strengths, experience and knowledge to deliver at a higher and more impactful level.

Team and Group Coaching

Using the same executive coaching principles, we work with teams and groups to help them develop into high functioning and performing units.  We often see teams that are cooperating rather than collaborating and our intent is to transition them from a siloed mentality towards a high-performance mindset. We work with both newly formed (agile/project) teams and long-established (leadership) teams working all the way from establishing their purpose and goals through to achievement and on-going commitment.  

Positive Leadership and Well-Being

Using the principles of positive psychology we enable leaders to take a more wholistic and mindful approach to their leadership style.  Guiding leaders to use their strengths, build positive relationships and being more optimistic and resilient helps them lead with more presence, passion and positivity.  This means that they are able to bring their “whole-self” to work and lead in a far more authentic and creative manner.  Key areas of focus include:
